or process applications. It cost money to rescue a dog and we can use all the help we can get!

Now you can help us to help them by Sponsoring one of those waiting to be adopted.
You can sponsor an older or needier long term foster that has touched  your heart.
With a $35.00 monthly donation in the dog’s name

  Shalimar Female Shih Tzu
Ellie Female Shih Tzu
SPONSOR'S DESPERATELY NEEDED!!! Our little Ellie had a terrible accident 12/22 and she broke her tiny leg in two places. It was unable be placed in a cast due to the nature of the fractures. She had the surgery and they placed a plate with pins in her tiny leg. The Surgery was over $2700.00 and she still has months of healing ahead of her. We know this is the holiday season, but any help would be greatly appreciated. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization and your donation is tax deductible. THANK YOU FOR IN ADVANCE FOR HELPING LITTLE ELLIE!!!! Update- Ellie is healed and has her cast off. Unfortunately the break occured during a growth period so she isn't quite back to normal yet. She has to do water therapy to redevelop her muscles that atrophied while she grew with her cast on. But she seems to like the therapy and is a happy little girl!
Dolly Female Shih Tzu
She was picked up as a stray & held at a shelter & we were called when her time was up to pick her up as she was too scared for them to place.
She appears to have been a 'puppy mill breeder' due to her fear of humans, but is making baby steps. We keep a leash on her at all times when she is loose in the house so we can 'catch' her as she will run if we don't. BUT she is now starting to come to us instead of going nuts when we step on her leash. We just sort of sit or squat down & gently call her and she's starting to respond! BIG baby steps! She is full of tail waggles, but is scared when we try to snuggle or kiss her yet.
She wants to be near her human, she will follow both my husband and I around, she just is afraid for us to handle her. Although she has made great strides in the time we've had her. She is one that will take a lot of patience to work with. Update! She is around 4 or so years old now, has been here 2 years, but still doesn't wish to be touched by humans. She came to us almost totally feral & has made very great strides. She does like to be near her humans, but her instilled fear keeps her from allowing humans to touch and love on her. She does well with our dogs, although she doesn't play with them. She goes crate crazy so cannot be crated. She has learned that food and treats are good and will allow us to touch her or pick her up if we have her food or treats in our hands! But she is one that would need someone who has dealt with feral dogs and has the patience of Job to be able to ever be placed. It is unlikely she will ever become a 'normal' tzu & that is such a shame as she is such a little doll and would be a wonderful girl had she been brought up right. Dolly is an amazing little girl, we just wish we'd gotten her before the damage occurred. she would be one heck of a good little pet for someone as she does want to try to be 'loved', it's just that fear that's always in her mind & eyes that prevent it. UPDATE - Dolly is much fatter now, she has learned what treats are & demands ice cream when her foster daddy gets some in the evenings! She also has learned how to 'beg' very well. She knows when it's dinnertime & she does love her foodies. We know, when her mind allows it, that she appreciates the fact she has people who care. Not just us, her caregivers, but those who help by sponsoring her.

Poppy Female Shih Tzu
This tiny little girl came to us when the owner passed away. She's 13yrs old and needs to be have someone who will love her in her golden years. She is very healthy and her blood work is normal. Recently had a dental and is ready for her permanent home. Could you please find it in your heart to love this precious senior princess for the rest of her life?
Rocky Male Shih Tzu
Rocky is a 4 yr old tibetin terrier/shih tzu mix that was relinquished to rescue after Rocky got loose from their home and was attacked by another dog while on the streets. When he was returned they were unable to afford the medical care for his injuries and were thinking about euthanisia. Rescue stepped in and he is getting the necessary treatment he deserves. He had to have his eye removed and is recovering from his surgery.
Pepper Male Shih Tzu
Poor little Pepper. At one time he was a beloved family pet and for unknown reasons he was dumped out along the road in Ravenna Oh during a very cold snowy evening. He was found by a very caring woman in her front yard matted and with ice cycles hanging from his fur. She called us to take him and we did. Our Vet did blood work and checked him all over. His blood work is fine but little Pepper has a perianal hernia that needs repaired. Unfortunately the cost is $3200. All of this could be avoided if he had been neutered as it is caused by hormones. We had him neutered to stop the racing hormones to slow down any progression, but unfortunately to cost of his needed surgery is way out of our budget. Peppers foster Mom says he is the sweetest, gentlest little boy that she has ever had in her home. He always wants to lay beside her and puts his head on her leg looking at her with all the love and gratefulness that he can muster. Won't you please find it in your hearts to help Pepper get his surgery by sponsoring this little gentle soul.
Duffy Male Shih Tzu
Duffy, a 9 yr old Shih Tzu boy came in our rescue group along with his brother Buja. Both have been together all of their lives. Duffy is a very sweet and a loving little man that is active and loves to go for his walks. He will give kisses to anyone that will come into contact with him. Would you be interested in giving Duffy a forever home or sponsoring him?
Morgan Male Shih Tzu
Morgan is an all white, older shih tzu who was dumped at a high kill shelter that gasses the dogs. His eyes were completely encrusted and he has severe cataracts. He had a lot of weakness in his back legs and was very lethargic. Our foster mom couldn't bear to leave him there so she put him in our hospice program. He is now on antibiotics, pain meds and eye drops and he has perked up quite a bit. He does have some slight vision left.
Angelina Female Shih Tzu
Our little Angelina was one of four senior dogs that were left at a puppy mill auction in Ohio. She is a senior girl that had never walked on grass and had been so neglected and abused throughout her life we had to say yes to her and bring her in to foster care. Suffering from severe dry eye all of her life and not being treated she now is blind with her left eye that has shrunk into the socket. She was debarked and had her tail cut off sometime in her life. She follows Pamela around now and is now living the life this precious little baby deserves. She requires tacrolimous drops daily and a special diet for her skin allergies. Please sponsor little Angelina. Thank you in advance
Kiki Female Shih Tzu
Kiki came from the Cleveland City Kennel. She is black and white and approximately 15 years old. She was emaciated and loaded with intestinal parasites when found and was actually mistaken for a skunk at nite. She is blind and hearing impaired. Volunteers found her hiding in the back of a cage at the CCK and said " Eeek! What is that?" They couldn't leave her behind so they brought to foster care, knowing she may be a long term or permanent foster due to her age and disabilities.
Mulligan Male Shih Tzu
Mulligan is about 7 years old according to the shelter. During his neuter it was discovered that he also had bladder stones. During the surgery the vet discovered a lump and found that it is bladder cancer. Mulligan has been diagnosed with bladder cancer but his foster mom says he is happy and not in pain so she is committed to give him a good life for whatever time he has left. The vet says average life expectancy is about 11 months. His medicine runs about $45 a month. The medicine is working very well for Mulligan and he has outlived the vets first prediction. He is still doing well although the cancer has grown some. He is still happy and enjoying life and we hope he may have another few months with us. Update - The vet feels that the growth has stopped getting larger and feels that Mulligan is in remission. We are going to keep him on the medicine as it seems to be really working for him. He walks every day with his foster mom and is really happy to be with the other fosters.

  Brandy Female Shih Tzu
This baby was left alone for several days at a time. She is so scared & has separation anxiety from being left alone so much. She also has problems socializing with humans & is so afraid of strangers. It will be a long time before she's ready to go to a forever home, unless it's to someone who has dealt with this behavior before. Please consider sponsoring this beauty.. she is trying very hard to learn. Brandy needs a home with abused Lhasa experience.
