Adopt Us or Sponsor Us Please!

  Shalimar Female Shih Tzu
Dolly Female Shih Tzu
She was picked up as a stray & held at a shelter & we were called when her time was up to pick her up as she was too scared for them to place.
She appears to have been a 'puppy mill breeder' due to her fear of humans, but is making baby steps. We keep a leash on her at all times when she is loose in the house so we can 'catch' her as she will run if we don't. BUT she is now starting to come to us instead of going nuts when we step on her leash. We just sort of sit or squat down & gently call her and she's starting to respond! BIG baby steps! She is full of tail waggles, but is scared when we try to snuggle or kiss her yet.
She wants to be near her human, she will follow both my husband and I around, she just is afraid for us to handle her. Although she has made great strides in the time we've had her. She is one that will take a lot of patience to work with. Update! She is around 4 or so years old now, has been here 2 years, but still doesn't wish to be touched by humans. She came to us almost totally feral & has made very great strides. She does like to be near her humans, but her instilled fear keeps her from allowing humans to touch and love on her. She does well with our dogs, although she doesn't play with them. She goes crate crazy so cannot be crated. She has learned that food and treats are good and will allow us to touch her or pick her up if we have her food or treats in our hands! But she is one that would need someone who has dealt with feral dogs and has the patience of Job to be able to ever be placed. It is unlikely she will ever become a 'normal' tzu & that is such a shame as she is such a little doll and would be a wonderful girl had she been brought up right. Please sponsor Dolly!

Molly Female Schnauzer
Molly is an 8 year old schnauzer who was turned into a shelter because her owners couldn't afford her. Our foster volunteer was there to pick up another dog but couldn't just leave Molly when she so obviously needed our help. Molly was matted and blood stained and peeing blood. The shelter had her on antibiotics but they hadn't helped her. Our volunteer suspected bladder stones and knew it would be an expensive surgery but Molly was so sweet she wanted to give her another chance at a happy life. She got her out of there and got her groomed and to the vet the next day for emrgency bladder stone surgery. The stone removed was the size of a golf ball! Can you imagine? Now that it is out, Molly feels 100% better and is such a sweetie. She just needs a home of her own to love her.
Ruthie Female Shih Tzu/Maltese
Ruthie, aka Sweetie. Sweetie is a small tzu/maltese or tzu/poodle mix. She does NOT like other dogs at all and is also 'protective' of her master. She would do well in a home with an older single person with no other pets. Her foster mom says - She has been with us for several months as most people do not just want a dog that must be a 'single' pet however. Sweetie does very well on her housetraining, uses our doggie door, and is just a sweetie as long as she gets her way. She adores my hubby and would probably do well with a male owner. She 'tolerates' me. She is around 2 or so years of age is all and came in from a shelter that had no room to hold her after her time was 'up' to try to adopt her out. Would you be interested in giving Ruthie a forever home or sponsoring her?
Mima Female Shih Tzu
Mima was an owner surrender. We found out that sometimes black tzu go to the beat of a different drummer. Mima definitely does that! LOL She will take spells on her house training even with a doggie door. If she gets mad, she does punish by pot tying inside. She also has 'prissy paws' & doesn't wish to go out when it's yucky. Mima cannot be crated for any length of time, she rather goes 'crate crazy'. She will bark, whine, pee & poop in her crate. She has been checked out medically, both blood work & urine analysis and all is fine there. It's just Mima definitely has a mind of her own & doesn't appear to have any plans to change. She also has been here several months as not being house trained is not a plus on adoption. She also does not care for other dogs, and would do best as an only pet. She does love people however, she just is superior to all humans & do not have to follow their agenda, at least in her mind. Would you be interested in giving Mima a forever home or sponsoring her?
Duffy Male Shih Tzu
Duffy, a 9 yr old Shih Tzu boy came in our rescue group along with his brother Buja. Both have been together all of their lives. Duffy is a very sweet and a loving little man that is active and loves to go for his walks. He will give kisses to anyone that will come into contact with him. Would you be interested in giving Duffy a forever home or sponsoring him?
Jada Female Shih Tzu
Jada was a little girl whose owners gave her up to a shelter but the shelter told us she failed their temperment test. Well no wonder! She had bladder stones and was obviously in a lot of pain and discomfort. We took her to the vet who did surgery and found three bladder stones the size of marbles in her little 8 pound body. The stones were calcium oxilate so Jada will require a special diet for the rest of her life.
Tweety Male Peke
Tweety is a sweet baby peke who was born with hip problems. Exercise and muscles are learning to compensate for the defective joints and he has had 3 weeks of exercise and now runs and walks very well! He will need several more weeks of rehab before he is old enought to be altered and adopted! He will need an owner who can watch his weight and give him gloucosamine to prevent arthrisits as he gets older.
Chunky Monkey Male Shih Tzu
Chunky Monkey is a typical puppy mill rescue baby. He is only one anf a half years old and unable to be a puppy. He hovers like a hedgehog running from his crate to the backyard.  He is so afraid that he will pee in his cage if another human besides his foster mom enters the room. He was kept in a plastic crate until he came into rescue. He is doing better with his foster mom now but is still terribly frightened of strangers. He loves to steal her shoes and slippers and hide them in his crate! But he really loves riding in the car and going to the groomer. He loves his groomer! Can you sponsor or adopt Chunky?
Mulligan Male Shih Tzu
Mulligan is about 7 years old according to the shelter. During his neuter it was discovered that he also had bladder stones. During the surgery the vet discovered a lump so it is suspected that Mulligan may have bladder cancer. We are currently working with a vet to confirm that diagnosis. His foster mom says he is just the sweetest little guy and so happy. Can you help Mulligan?
Mulligan has been diagnosed with bladder cancer but his foster mom says he is happy and not in pain so she is committed to give him a good life for whatever time he has left. The vet says average life expectancy is about 11 months. His medicine runs about $45 a month.
Willow Female Shih Tzu
Willow is a senior girl that was rescued from a shelter in Tuscola County, Michigan. She was reported seen "wandering around" and was brought into the shelter. The shelter personnel were kind enough to contact us to take her in (and drove nearly 2 hours to get her to us!). She is 12-15 years old and mostly sleeps except to eat and go outside. Although she has a pretty haircut in the photo, when we got her, her eyes were infected and literally glued shut from the infection. She has a severe eye infection that is being treated with antibiotics, but she will also need eyedrops for the remainder of her life to treat her dry-eye once the infection is cleared up. And if that isn't bad enough.....the vet has also told us that Willow has a Grade 3 heart murmur. Willow also has several teeth that are rotted and loose and had to be removed. She will need to be on medication for her heart murmur. The vet feels it is too dangerous at her age and with heart condition to do exploratory surgery to confirm whether she is spayed, since we don't know. We could use your help in paying for Willow's vet bills. Thank you!
So far Willow's vet bills have been almost $800 and that was mostly diagnostic work and a dental. Thank you to all who are helping Willow!
  Hannah Banana Female Shih Tzu
Our little Hannah Banana came to us from a high kill shelter whose method of euthanasia is the gas chamber.  Her legs were severely matted causing her hind quarters to become atrophied. For the first couple of months in foster care she walked with her body curved in the shape of a C. Her foster mom said her shape resembled that of a banana, so we named her Hannah Banana.  She is one of the oldest fur babies in our program approximately 14 years old and very visually impaired due to melting corneal ulcers from years of neglect. She requires daily medication for her eye condition at a cost of 45.00 a month for the rest of her life. She was diagnosed with a lung disorder that requires theophylline to help her breathe at a cost of $15 a month. She also has chronic ear infections  She tries to keep up with her foster brothers and sisters but has a rough go of it and tires very easily.  Her favorite thing to do is sit on the couch and have her belly rubbed.  She will lay there for hours if you have the time to keep rubbing.  Please sponsor or adopt this special girl!
  Travis Male Shih Tzu
Travis is 7-8 yrs old and came to us totally matted, unable to walk and was found unconscious outside of the emergency department at the Cleveland Clinic. A group of people surrounded this poor pitiful creature not knowing what to do. But there was an angel looking after him. A Clinic employee by the name of Dianne picked him up and took him to the ER to have him checked out. One huge snarl of hair and nails that were so long he was unable to walk. Unfortunately, with the blood work results they found him to be heartworm positive and is now going though the treatment. He is being kept in a quiet area so his treatment will be successful. He is one of the sweetest little ones and so very polite. Travis can really use multiple sponsors as his heartworm treatment will be expensive!

  Brandy Female Shih Tzu
This baby was left alone for several days at a time. She is so scared & has separation anxiety from being left alone so much. She also has problems socializing with humans & is so afraid of strangers. It will be a long time before she's ready to go to a forever home, unless it's to someone who has dealt with this behavior before. Please consider sponsoring this beauty.. she is trying very hard to learn.
Buja Male Shih Tzu
This little guy came into rescue with his brother. He is 11 or 12 years old and his owner surrendered him due to her health problems. He needs a loving new home. Please sponsor Buja!

  Daisy Female Mini Schnauzer
Daisy is an 8 year old salt and pepper schnauzer. She came to the rescue from an abusive situation. She fear bites with strangers so may need to spend the rest of her life in foster care due to liability issues. Daisy has trouble with what appears to be IBS so takes a pepcid AC daily for it. She also has had bladder stones and has had surgery twice since in rescue. We now have her on a prescription food and it seems to be helping to bring her PH level to where it should be! Daisy is a total love with some medical & mental issues that will probably never disappear. However, she loves to play with our dogs is & is quite the clown! Can you sponsor and help poor Daisy?
  Wolfie Male Mini Schnauzer
Wolfie is an 8 year old salt & pepper schnauzer. Through no fault of his own, he found himself up for adoption. When we went to get a dental done, blood work showed problems with his liver. The numbers were off enough for us to decide to do follow up testing.
Wolfie was found to have cushings disease. Fortunately, we found it prior to any symptoms showing up. So hopefully we caught it early enough. Medicines for cushings can be quite expensive. If you can find it in your heart to help sponsor Wolfie, he will appreciate it, along with his 'parents'.
